I originally wanted to go to CalArts for animation, couldn’t afford the price and didn’t want to be in debt. I understand you took a nontraditional path to becoming a published author and illustrator. Becker lives in Mexico City she spoke with us over Zoom, and the conversation has been edited for length and clarity.
